Lewis Hamilton 2nd in Valencia’s Euro GP Race

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Lewis Hamilton post-race interview:

“Into Turn One, I was very close to Seb [Vettel], I went for the gap, I out-braked him and we went into the corner side-by-side. He gave me room, but we touched and the contact damaged my front wing.

“When the Safety Car came out, the team did a great job to change the nosebox and tyres. After that my pace was much better and I was able to push Seb, but it’s impossible to pass around here when the cars are so closely matched.

Lewis Hamilton Wins in Canada

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Lewis Hamilton had a superb weekend in Canada. Taking pole position on Saturday and then winning the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton’s comments after the race:

“It was an incredibly challenging afternoon, especially in the last 20 laps, when I was trying to look after my tyres while also keeping Jenson and Fernando [Alonso] behind me. It wasn’t easy, I can tell you that!

“This track is unique – you can never be too confident, because you really have to look after your tyres, and it’s so hard to know how long you can make them last. Fernando put a lot of pressure on me. We had a really good battle, but, although he was pressing me hard, I was able to pull out a small gap and then maintain it. It was such a sensational feeling to cross the line.

Lewis Hamilton Wins in Turkey

Lewis Hamilton drove another awesome race and this time the wheels held together and finished 1st in Turkey!

Lewis Hamilton:

“It was quite an eventful race. I didn’t get a great start, it looked like I had a better reaction than Mark [Webber], but the car just didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Fortunately, I was able to attack Sebastian [Vettel] into Turn Three – I got past him, which was a relief, then I was challenging Mark for a long time, before I lost some time to him at the pitstop, when my right rear took longer than normal to go on.

Hamilton racing in Barcelona

Lewis Hamilton finished just outside the points with a 9th position in Barcelona, Spain.

Given that he started from 14th it is a good improvement, though no points is a disappointment to Lewis, McLaren and the fans – but everybody understands that the car desperately needs to be improved.

Lewis Hamilton racing in Bahrain

Lewis Hamilton had a fantastic race in Bahrain finishing in 4th position.

As predicted, Lewis had a great run-up at the start of the race and even briefly managing to get into second position. Hamilton did very well throughout the race to hang on to the Toyota and Red Bull cars, with help of the KERS system. It looks like McLaren are getting it together and there are certain visible improvements. Lets hope they can get more updates before the race in Barcelona and throughout the season.

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Lewis Hamilton finished the Chinese grand prix in Shanghai in 6th position, after starting from 9th position.

Lewis Hamilton driving in wet China

As the rain started to pour we knew Lewis is in for a good chance. After the safety car start Lewis managed to get up into 5th position with some great overtaking manovures, includeing a few on Kimi Raikkonen. Unfortunately the conditions were ever changeing and there was standing water on certain parts of the circuit which cought Hamilton out and thur spinning a few times. He did well to get back through the field and finished in 6th position which isn’t a bad result overall.

Lewis’ view on the race

It was almost too difficult to drive at the beginning of the race. I found a good pace and had some fun in the opening laps, but unfortunately destroyed my tyres quite early on.

I made a few too many mistakes today. It was very slippery and my front-left tyre was finished long before the end but I still gave it my best. This afternoon was a real struggle but I’m glad I got some points for the team.

Lewis Hamilton Finishes 7th in Sepang

Lewis Hamilton in Sepang, Malaysia

Lewis Hamilton managed to finish in the points with 7th position after qualifying 12th at the Sepang Grand Prix in Malaysia.

The race was interesting with lots of action and overtaking on the track. Lewis Hamilton managed to overtake during the race with is a relatively good sign that the McLaren certainly in not at the back of the field in terms of performance. The race certainly got very interesting when drivers started coming in as the rain began to fall. Though it was raining lightly at the beginning when drivers started going on the full-wet tyres. Big mistake as Kimi found out. The rain was too light for the wet weather tyres and they were destroyed within a few laps.

Lewis Hamilton Finishes 4th 3rd in Australia

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Lewis Hamilton manages to finish in 4th 3rd place after starting from 18th in Melbourne, Australia.

What an incredible weekend this has been for Lewis Hamilton. After qualifying in 15th position and then being put to the back of the grid because of a gearbox change – it has to be said that this really is a good result at this point in time.

Yes, it’s true that the race was not won by Lewis and yes, McLaren doesn’t seem to be super-competitive at the moment. Unlike Brawn-GP (formerly Honda), who won the race, McLaren hasn’t been concentrating on the 2009 car for as long as they put most of their efforts into the 2008 car, which won the Formula 1 world championship in 2008.
