Lewis Starts 5th in Barcelona

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team seemed to have some difficulty keeping up with the top runners Ferrari. Renault’s Fernando Alonso also surprised with starting second on the grid. Trulli and Webber also did well to get into the top 8.

It should be an interesting F1 race in Spain, hopefully McLaren have a good strategy to make the best of their current capabilities, it seems Alonso might be on a very light fuel strategy and we’ll have to see Kubica’s racing pace on Sunday, so I think the Hamilton will probably have a good chance for the podium, but we’ll have to see. :-)

Hamilton Starts Third In Bahrain

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

British Formula 1 racing sensation will start the Bahrain Grand Prix in 3rd position behind BMW’s Robert Kubica’s first pole position and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. The Ferrari racing driver was pretty much dominating the racing weekend so far be setting lap-times of nearly a second faster.

The race should be very entertaining and hopefully Hamilton can create some spectacular overtaking maneuver’s in the first few corners of the race. But let’s not count out Kimi Raikonnen who should never be underestimated, he might have had a little trouble in qualifying but the Ice Man can really turn the heat on…

Hamilton On Pole In Shanghai, China

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

One small step for Lewis – one large step for Hamilton’s first Formula 1 World Championship!

Lewis Hamilton is on pole in Shanghai, China!

What an incredible lap Lewis pulled out of the bag in China’s final qualifying session. A perfect lap put him ahead of the Ferrari’s who were fastest all weekend. Alonso is starting from fourth, and an honorable mention has to go to David Coulthard and Ralph Schumacher who managed to get up to fifth and sixth, respectively.

It looks like it’s going to be another very interesting race on Sunday where Lewis Hamilton can become Formula One World Champion, and with a 90% chance of a wet race it’s certainly going to be a nail-biter.

Hamilton Starts 4th In Spa

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

After an eventful few days, racing was finally back on the agenda when qualifying finally got underway in Spa, Belgium.

Qualifying didn’t go as well as usual, Lewis Hamilton starts fourth in Spa. Well, that’s actually still pretty good for a rookie. The Ferarri’s with Kimi and Felipe start first and second, then Alonso followd by Lewis.

It looks like it’s gonna be a very interesting race on Sunday, not only because it’s Spa, but to see how Lewis can maneuver his way to the front past his team-mate and the Ferarri’s.

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Lewis Hamilton starts the Italian Grand Prix in Monza from second position, only 0.037 seconds behind Fernando Alonso.

The McLaren’s were very competitive throughout qualifying and the practice sessions and after qualifying they are leading the field by 0.5 seconds!

Let’s see if the Ferrari’s can be competitive with the McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team in Monza tomorrow, otherwise it’ll just be Fernando Alonso racing Lewis Hamilton.

Heidfeld did very well in the BMW to start from fourth.

Hamilton On Pole – Alonso Demoted To 6th

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Lewis Hamilton was awarded the pole position in Hungary after the stewards deemed Alonso impeded Hamilton’s chances of taking pole position (which he obviously did!). Fernando Alonso is now starting from 6th position; McLaren Mercedes will also not earn any constructors points from either car this weekend.

Team principal Ron Dennis also told reporters after qualifying that the mix-up began because Hamilton didn’t follow instructions to allow Alonso past during the fuel-burning phase of Q3, thus throwing the McLarens out of sequence.

Now Mr. Dennis, that’s not very cool – publicly blaming one of your drivers even though they probably didn’t do anything wrong!

Good luck for the race Lewis!

Hamilton Starts 2nd in Hungary – Alonso Naughty

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing driver Lewis Hamilton starts the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix from second position.

A strange incident happened near the end of the final-qualifying session when Fernando Alonso was told to wait by the team to find a gap for his last qualifying lap – BUT when he was given the sign to go, Alonso still delayed for around 10 seconds while Lewis was already cued up behind him, costing Lewis valuable time which he needed to do a final qualifying lap as time was running out.

Fernando Alonso got pole in front of Lewis Hamilton who did not manage to cross the line before the time ran out – by only a few seconds. I’m sure Lewis Hamilton wasn’t very happy and Ron Dennis didn’t look too happy either.

If Lewis wins the race on Sunday it’s be the perfect answer to Alonso! ;-)

Hungary Qualifying Results:

1 Fernando Alonso, McLaren-Mercedes 1:19.674
2 Lewis Hamilton, McLaren-Mercedes 1:19.781

16 Vitantonio Liuzzi, STR-Ferrari 1:21.993

17 Jenson Button, Honda 1:21.737

UPDATE: Autosport has spoken to Ron Dennis about the situation, procedures and what happened. Granted, there probably are procedures in place etc. – but it still just seems somewhat strange, when Alonso came out there wasn’t even a car in sight!
