Lewis Hamilton in Monaco

Lewis Hamilton didn’t have the best of qualifyings for the Monaco grand prix by hitting the barrier with his left rear wheel in Qualifying 1, breaking the suspension. At least he did have a good timed lap in before which would nearly have gotten him through to Q2 (but he wouldn’t have been allowed to re-join in Q2 though).

This is very unfortunate as Lewis was doing very well in practice and looked to qualify in the top few positions. This could potentially have been the McLaren comeback by getting a podium. The new rear wing also seemed to help. The slight gap in the middle of the rear wing can be seem in the above image.

Lewis Hamilton in Barcelona

Lewis Hamilton qualified in 14th position for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona tomorrow.

The updates to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 racing car didn’t seem to help Lewis or Kovalainen, who qualified in 18th position. I think the main reason the updated parts haven’t had a bigger impact is that the parts could not be tested on the track and there were only a few improvements to the car relative to other teams who brought larger changes.

Last year Lewis started in 5th position and finished on the podium – but this year he hasn’t got the kind of car to do it in.

Lewis Hamilton Qqualifying in Bahrain

Lewis Hamilton is improving further this weekend by qualifying 5th in Bahrain.

Things seem to be getting better overall  for Vodafone Mercedes McLaren with Lewis being fastest in the first practice session and also Kovalainen improving by qualifying in 11th. This shows that the team is doing a good job relative to the other teams and will hopefully continue to do so.

Toyota is the team to beat this weekend who were very strong by taking 1st and 2nd grid position. The Red Bull’s are still going very strong starting 3rd and 4th. Hamilton did a great job by splitting up the Brawn cars.

Lewis Hamilton Qualifies 9th in China

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Lewis Hamilton qualifies in 9th position for the Chinese F1 race.

McLaren’s previously steady progress away from the lower midfield seems to have been accelerated by its own interim diffuser and new front wing as Lewis Hamilton made the pole shoot-out for the first time in 2009, eventually claiming ninth.

It looks likely that it will rain in Shanghai, China which will give Lewis a good chance to move through the field.

Lewis Hamilton Qualifies 12th in Malaysia

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Lewis Hamilton will start the Malaysian Grand Prix from 12th position.

The McLaren’s were struggling to qualify well in Malaysia with achiving 12th and 14th position. The race will be starting there in the late afternoon which gives a higher chance of rain which could give Lewis an opportunity get into the points.

Lewis Hamilton Qualifies 4th In Brazil

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

The Brazilian qualifying is an important part for Hamilton’s championship because being in the middle of the pack more accidents happen which is not what Lewis needs. He just needs a solid points finish and there’s no better way of doing this than by winning the race. ;-)

Qualifying 1

In the first qualifying session the Ferrari’s seem to have been struggling a bit with under-steer, this might be because of the used tyres. But then at the end of the session Massa managed to get into first and Kimi into second position. Lewis Hamilton was safely through into Q2.

Fernando Alonso who wants to see a Ferrari win because of his grudge against McLaren finished Q1 in 4th position.

Hamilton on Pole in Shanghai

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Lewis Hamilton is in pole position in Shanghai, China. Lewis has been fast all weekend and left his competitors and critics behind him.
Lewis Hamilton has China pole position
It’s Hamilton’s chance to finally wrap up his first Formula 1 world championship. He needs to make 6 points more than championship rival Felipe Massa. BMW’s Kubica had an outside chance which now seems even more unlikely as he’s starting down in 11th position.

Hamilton’s main Formula 1 Championship rival, Felipe Massa, only managed to get into 5th position. This gives Lewis some more breathing space as Massa is 7 points behind.

Lewis Hamilton starts 2nd in the spectacular Singapore night race.

I’ve got a feeling that this is probably going to be one of the best and most spectacular races in 2008. Lewis Hamilton starts in p2 behind Felipe Massa and in front of Kimi Raikkonen. Sebastian Vettel seems to be continuing his good form who qualified in 7th position.

Hamilton is only 1 point ahead of fellow F1 championship contender and fellow front row starter Felipe Massa. This is most probably one of the defining moments for the 2008 Formula 1 world championship.

The fact that the race is being held at night is simply awesome. Previously there were a few voices of pessimism about a night race but they’ve since disappeared. The racing drivers love it, the media loves it and everybody watching it thinks that it’s fantastic.

I can’t wait for the race tomorrow. I wish I was there but the F1 race in Singapore is a sold out event.

Good luck Lewis!
