Lewis Hamilton Qualifies 4th In Brazil

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

The Brazilian qualifying is an important part for Hamilton’s championship because being in the middle of the pack more accidents happen which is not what Lewis needs. He just needs a solid points finish and there’s no better way of doing this than by winning the race. ;-)

Qualifying 1

In the first qualifying session the Ferrari’s seem to have been struggling a bit with under-steer, this might be because of the used tyres. But then at the end of the session Massa managed to get into first and Kimi into second position. Lewis Hamilton was safely through into Q2.

Fernando Alonso who wants to see a Ferrari win because of his grudge against McLaren finished Q1 in 4th position.

Hamilton on Pole in Shanghai

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Lewis Hamilton is in pole position in Shanghai, China. Lewis has been fast all weekend and left his competitors and critics behind him.
Lewis Hamilton has China pole position
It’s Hamilton’s chance to finally wrap up his first Formula 1 world championship. He needs to make 6 points more than championship rival Felipe Massa. BMW’s Kubica had an outside chance which now seems even more unlikely as he’s starting down in 11th position.

Early this morning Lewis Hamilton managed to get onto pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix at the Fuji Speedway.

Hamilton’s main Formula 1 Championship rival, Felipe Massa, only managed to get into 5th position. This gives Lewis some more breathing space as Massa is 7 points behind.

Lewis Hamilton Starts 2nd In Singapore

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Lewis Hamilton starts 2nd in the spectacular Singapore night race.
Lewis Hamilton in Singapore

I’ve got a feeling that this is probably going to be one of the best and most spectacular races in 2008. Lewis Hamilton starts in p2 behind Felipe Massa and in front of Kimi Raikkonen. Sebastian Vettel seems to be continuing his good form who qualified in 7th position.

Hamilton is only 1 point ahead of fellow F1 championship contender and fellow front row starter Felipe Massa. This is most probably one of the defining moments for the 2008 Formula 1 world championship.

The fact that the race is being held at night is simply awesome. Previously there were a few voices of pessimism about a night race but they’ve since disappeared. The racing drivers love it, the media loves it and everybody watching it thinks that it’s fantastic.

I can’t wait for the race tomorrow. I wish I was there but the F1 race in Singapore is a sold out event.

Good luck Lewis!

Lewis Hamilton Starts 15th In Monza

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Lewis Hamilton will start the Italian Grand Prix in Monza from 15th position.
Lewis Hamilton in Monza
The previous worst qualifying in 2008 for Lewis was 5th position. Today’s wet and tricky conditions were very difficult to master as it kepts starting and stopping to rain.

In the second qualifying session Lewis went out with intermediates at first which didn’t work as it started raining again and had to come back to the pit to change to full-wets.

The starting grid in Monza is pretty mixed up with Kimi starting in 14th position and Massa from 6th.

Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel who is the youngest ever driver to get into pole position.

Lewis Hamilton Starts 2nd In Valencia

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Lewis Hamilton driving in Valencia
The first Formula 1 qualifying in Valencia mixed up the field a bit with a brand new track which has little traction. The teams were struggling for grip in the first session but at the end of the second session there was noticeable more traction even though it started to drizzle a little bit.

The surprise of the second session was Sebastian Vettel who was first at the end of qualifying session 2. Renault’s Fernando Alonso didn’t make it into Q3.

Lewis Hamilton was finally flying in the final qualifying session and got up to 2nd position on the starting grid. Felipe Massa is on pole position and Robert Kubica is starting in third position.

Some TV commentators say that there’s a high possibility that there will be a safety car in tomorrow’s race and that McLaren are playing it safe by putting in extra fuel. We’ll have to see how the race unfolds.

Hamilton On Pole In Hungary

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Lewis Hamilton delivered another fantastic qualifying performance with his 10th career pole position in Hungary. This makes his 3rd win in a row very possible.

Lewis has been looking superb all weekend leading most of the practice sessions and he was dominating qualifying Q1 and Q2.

Lewis Hamilton takes the McLaren to pole position in HungaryHeikki Kovalainen in the sister Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes managed to get into the 2nd place making it difficult for the Ferrari’s at this Hungarian Grand Prix where overtaking is very difficult.

The field is quite close together and a few hundreds of a second can mean the difference of a position at the Hungaroring. Timo Glock managed to get into 5th position in his Toyota which was a refreshing surprise.

McLaren’s Woking squad have been enjoying a few recent wins over Ferrari in the last few races. However, the intense competition between the two teams will surely keep it interesting to the end of the season.

Can Lewis make it 3-in-a-row tomorrow? We’ll have to tune in tomorrow and keep our fingers crossed.

Hamilton is on Pole in Germany

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Another superb Lewis Hamilton pole position, this time in Hockenheim, Germany.

Lewis was looking good since he arrived at the Hockenheim circuit setting the fastest practice times throughout the weekend so far. His car was very well set-up, contrary to Kimi’s Ferrari which just didn’t hook up very well at all. But Hamilton was on form all weekend and today managed to secure his pole position for tomorrow Hockenheim Grand Prix.

Hamilton Starts Fourth In Silverstone

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Lewis Hamilton is going to start in 4th place in Silverstone on Sunday, the British Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton sitting in carIt seems it was somewhat of a tough 3rd qualifying session for Lewis who was on provisional for a short while. Nearing the end of qualifying Hamilton came off the racetrack on a hot lap as he was pushing the car and either, the wind turned, the tires weren’t quite right or he simply made a small mistake.

Nevertheless, Lewis starting from the second row of the grid is still a good starting position, he could even be in 2nd after the first few corners, well have to wait and see ;-) especially as it is very likely to rain - that’s quite typical in England, but it sure can make an exciting race!

Hamilton Qualifies 13th in France

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Lewis Hamilton managed to get up to 3rd in qualifying at the Magny-Cours circuit. Unfortunately the racing incident from Canada race resulted in Lewis having a 10-position grid penalty, which means Hamilton’s going to start from 13th position.

Meanwhile the Ferrari of Raikkonen and Massa are starting from the front of the grid followed by Renault’s Alonso. Canada GP winner Kubica will start from 6th position. It should be a very close race as the pack is very bunched up during the qualifying sessions with only a few hundredths of a second between racing drivers.

It could be a very interesting race to watch Hamilton going through the field at the Magny-Cours track, which is notorious for the lack of overtaking possibilities, but

Lewis Starts 5th in Barcelona

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team seemed to have some difficulty keeping up with the top runners Ferrari. Renault’s Fernando Alonso also surprised with starting second on the grid. Trulli and Webber also did well to get into the top 8.

It should be an interesting F1 race in Spain, hopefully McLaren have a good strategy to make the best of their current capabilities, it seems Alonso might be on a very light fuel strategy and we’ll have to see Kubica’s racing pace on Sunday, so I think the Hamilton will probably have a good chance for the podium, but we’ll have to see. :-)

Hamilton Starts Third In Bahrain

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

British Formula 1 racing sensation will start the Bahrain Grand Prix in 3rd position behind BMW’s Robert Kubica’s first pole position and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. The Ferrari racing driver was pretty much dominating the racing weekend so far be setting lap-times of nearly a second faster.

The race should be very entertaining and hopefully Hamilton can create some spectacular overtaking maneuver’s in the first few corners of the race. But let’s not count out Kimi Raikonnen who should never be underestimated, he might have had a little trouble in qualifying but the Ice Man can really turn the heat on…
