To Appeal Or Not To Appeal
October 22nd, 2007According to some news reports Vodafone McLaren Mercedes intend to appeal against the decision to take no action against Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld because the evidence that their used fuel that was cooler than the regulations permit was inconclusive. To be honest I don’t understand why cooler fuel would be an advantage, if somebody knows please tell me.
Anyway, both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have said that they would not want to take the Championship away from Kimi like this.
Lewis Hamilton had this to say:
I heard about it, but I don’t know anything about it, I don’t believe that I will be promoted up the order.
I think everyone did a great job, and what can you really say to that? If they You want to win the race and do it in style. Being promoted after some people have been thrown out is not the way I want to win it. I don’t know, it would feel weird after Kimi did such a fantastic job in the last two races and won on Sunday. If they are wrong, they are wrong.
But I want to win on the track. Having it taken away would be a bit cruel and probably not good for the sport. It’s tough on everybody - but there’s another year, I’m only 22, and there are going to be plenty more opportunities for me to win the championship.
I have no doubt that we can do that in the future. Last night was good. Ron made a speech and we had a great evening and rounded off the year. I’m extremely proud of them, I’m extremely proud of my family and everyone who has supported me to get me to where I am today.
It has been a phenomenal season and the support of the team has been overwhelming. It was just a pleasure to be part of.
Let’s see what happens. But as Hamilton said, it’s been a great year for him. This was only his first season and he’ll have plently more opportunities to win the Formula 1 World Championship.
