Lewis Hamilton finished 4th in Valencia

June 26th, 2011

Lewis Hamilton’s comments after the race:

I got a poor start and lost out to both Ferraris.

After that, it was a long race – the team asked me to stay out for as long as I could, and I was pushing all the way, but I struggled with oversteer and to be honest didn’t feel totally comfortable with the tyres.

To be able to finish fourth is still a good result though – and 12 points is a decent haul after the last two races – so I can’t really complain. However, in terms of performance, we weren’t as quick today as we’ve been in the last three races.

But I want to say a big thank-you to the team for some amazing pitstops today – we’ve really made some positive improvements in that area and it’s really appreciated. So, thanks again, guys.

You needed something to shake up the Parade, Sorry, but from a viewer perspective, it was very dull even though you worked your heart out. Something needs to change in Formula ‘Safety first’ On.

I am not suggesting safety rules should be ignored, but there needs to be something that will make it interesting and challenging. Races won or lost in the pits are not what the viewers want to see.

I know your capable of brilliant driving, challenging paces, defying the expected, but todays race might as well have been driven in milk floats.

Everyone did ‘ok’, but that is the ‘problem’, we don’t sign up to watch racing that is ‘OK’, we want to see you fight for the lead, want to see you nudge your way to the pole position, not once, but more than that, we want to see you winning, we want to see ‘edge-of-chair-gripping’ excitement.
